everyone lives in the city. a few years from now, the city has consumed everything, even the sky. there is no such thing as suburbs, nor towns, nor fields, nor parks; there are no nature reserves, no lakes, no mountains, no ocean view. there is only the city. it is rare to walk on the Earth's surface. the city in actuality is multiple cities built on top of one another, after every piece of real estate was bought. if you ever do find yourself at the lowest level of the city, where dirt used to live, it is almost impossible to see the sky. highways snake between builings, thousands of feet high. after artificial intelligence took all the simple jobs away from simple people, everyone had to get creative- now, humans scour the earth of its problems: disease is no longer a threat to anyone alive, earthquakes are no match for modern construction, natural disasters shy away at the will of modern science. there is truly no reason left to be alive, but to have a good time. and yet, people feel unhappy. the skyscrapers feel suffocating, and if you reach the top of the tallest builing to catch a view as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but miles and miles all around you of city and technology.
